Rock maze Peshketo

The rock maze or Peshketo cave is located near the village of Lilyache, Vratsa district. It represents an astonishing tangle of rock forms, bridges, holes, shaped passages and small caves.

I was not able to find scientific information about the place , except that archaeologists have found there traces of human culture from the end of the old Stone Age. According to legends, this place was once used for rituals.

I would describe Peshketo as an interesting and mysterious place, because, being in it, seemed to suddenly transfer into another world. It was a slight challenge for us to find the entrance to the cave itself. The local people were extremely polite and with a smile they tried to guide us. In the end, we managed to get there by ourselves.

Entering the village of Lilyache we followed the signs to the God's bridge until we reached this plate, indicating we should turn left immediately to the Peshketo cave. At the end of this street you will reach thishouse with a signboard "Bacho Kiro Street". You take the road to your right.

You will reach a large meadow where you can park your car. Here you can see through the trees the entrance of the cave, but to get to it, you need to find a way to skip the river.

If you walk a little further on your way forward, you will reach a gazebo. Shortly after, we managed to find a place where we crossed the river easily. For convenience, I marked in red the path we walked to the cave entrance.

The children were very entertained. The weather was wonderful and sunny. The place is extremely quiet. Only the forest birds were heard, and the roosters and the hens from the village. In the video below I have photographed the entrance of the cave as well as inside it. To get in from here, there is a small area that you need to go with duck walking. If that makes it difficult, you can enter the cave from the upper end, but so the thrill of the adventure is lost.

After several steps of duck walking we found ourselves in another world. We looked with interest the rock forms, the small caves and holes. Someone had burned a fire there and the children's fantasy worked at high revs and they already imagined how the cave people lived here and maybe they are still here!?
