The Museum of Transport in the city of Manchester was opened in 1979 years. Its collected over 100 years of the history of public road transport in the city.
To be honest, I had no high expectations of what I would see there, and I was definitely pleasantly surprised. The collection of over seventy buses and other vehicles is remarkable. We had the opportunity to get into some of the buses that were open for inspection. The feeling was like a movie in the 60's. I lacked only the silent "Beatles" music in the background.
A large part of the vehicles are in full working order, maintenance and restoration are carried out by volunteers of the museum. There are a number of events throughout the year that you can check out on the official website of the museum, as well as current working hours.
