Kartalа waterfalls are located near the town of Veliko Tarnovo, Bulgaria. You can reach them on a path from the Transfiguration Monastery or from the city itself. We took the path that leads from the Kartala neighborhood in Veliko Tarnovo and parked next to the Kartala shooting range. Initially you will be able to admire the view over the old capital, you can see the medieval fortress Tsarevets. Once we reach the foot, the path intersects with another road, which we took on the right. We saw red signs and markings indicating where to go to the waterfalls. Shortly afterwards we reached the first small waterfall, over which there is a wooden bridge, and on the side - a gazebo. We admired the shade and the waterfall, then again wondered where to go, because there was a marked path on the left, which continued up, and another, which continued along the river. We took the road on the right, which is along the river. Shortly afterwards we reached two signs - one pointing to the big waterfall and the other to the small waterfalls. We decided to visit the big waterfall first. The trail is very nice - forest and shady. Shortly before the waterfall there is a nice place to relax at the foot of the river, with a table and benches. The waterfall was beautiful, although I expected a little more water. We took the path back to the fork with the sign that leads to the small waterfalls. There were again many places for recreation, beautiful wooden bridges and, of course, small waterfalls.
