Ocnele Mari Salt mine

In Bulgaria, the salt rooms have become so modern lately. In Romania, without having planned it, we stumbled into a salt mine. Ocnele Mari is a former salt mine, located in Romania, currently open to visitors and made as a park.

There is also a convenient parking lot, which can be parked next to the ticket office. Every 30 minutes there is a bus that transports visitors to the mine and back. There are comfortable tables and chairs to wait for.

Entering the mine, at the first moment the smell is quite different and I can not put it into words. The temperature is between 13 and 15 degrees, the humidity – about 50%. The length of the park itself, which is made for visitors, is 1800 meters and the highest point-8 meters.

We had no expectations what we would see, but we remained pleasantly surprised by everything. The place is so done that you spend hours there. Everywhere there were benches, swings and tables with chairs. Also a museum, two restaurants, souvenir shops, billiard tables, table tennis, basketball and football pitch, trampoline, playgrounds, Which instead of sand, were with salt. Surprisingly, there was a church in it.

Salt mine is definitely a good destination for children and people with pulmonary diseases.

During our visit to Romania, the locals had recommended that we go to lake Vidraru. It was definitely not on my list of places I wanted to visit in the transylvanian part of Romania, but once the locals directed us to it, we had to go.
