The Archaeological Museum of Thassos is a museum located in the town of Limenas in Thassos and is one of the oldest museums in Greece. In an exhibition located in many rooms, you can admire more than 1700 objects of collections from 7th century BC to 7th centuries.
The museum is the most important of its kind in eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Exhibited are exhibits of statues, ceramics, coins, sculptures, inscriptions, jewels and etc. At the entrance to the museum will meet you sculpture of a man Kouros, high 3.5 meters, designed for the sanctuary of Apollo. You can also see the portrait busts of Claudius, Julius Caesar and Lucius Caesar, as well as the god of wine – Dionysus.
The exhibition definitely has many interesting exhibits related to the lives of the people of that time – what they were eating, what ornaments they had and jewelry, how carefully they took all the details of the objects. It's remarkable how something so ancient is so well preserved, and I wonder what would be left of our world one day...
A unique exhibition, full of exhibits made of recyclable materials, is located in the picturesque, old part of the town of Xanthi, Greece.
